Distance Animatic
So after much work, the animatic is finally done! Well there are still a few tweaks to be made but its basically there.
Enjoy.

Distance Storyboard
Here we have the first pass of the storyboard. It was drawn by the genius that is Eline Lindaas, The two of us spent a day going through the script and discussed how best to visualise it. Eline then drew it up. She has done an awesome job, her drawing skills never cease to amaze me. Find more of her work here: www.elinelindaasanimation.blogspot.co.uk
There are a fair few things that need changing, as some parts are not bringing out the emotion and tone enough. The whole of the wood chopping scene will be changed and the majority of the blizzard scene and reunion scene will be altered. There are also lots of little tweaks that need adjusting. But I do feel it's on the right tracks.
I'm in the middle of creating the animatic at the minute and will upload that in due course, so stayed tuned!

Updated Script
I have here an updated version of the script. I have added in some possible additions that make the story a bit clearer, however I'm not sure as of yet whether I will use them or not. Storyboarding will help decide this though.

Chasing Birds Script
This is the final script for Chasing Birds which we handed in for our Pre Module. If Chasing Birds does get made as a final film next year, this script will have to be revised a lot, but I feel that the basics are there.

Protest Animatic
Here's the animatic for the protest against the privatisation of student loans animation. The black part was meant to have a scene showing a suited man sucking money out of the world through a straw until it shrivels up, but this was later cut from the animation. I had to record myself doing the voice over to get an idea of the timings, as the committee had not recorded one yet. The script was later changed so I had to swap things about later and some parts were cut, also when I received the actual voice over I was supposed to use, it was at a different pace to how I had spoken it so this caused more rearranging. It was quite good working for people who had no idea about the process of animation and how incredibly long it takes, as it will prepare me for future jobs.

'Chasing Birds' Colour Storyboard
Eline drew out a beautiful storyboard for me to colour. I coloured it digitally on Photoshop, taking my colour palette from the Vogue covers. I tried to incorporate the Vogue style by using busy patterns on the wall, curtains and table, while keeping it fairly clean elsewhere, with minimal tonal changes. I used a lot of pink in the indoor scene as I wanted to make it look like somewhere Eliza would hate, so I played off the whole pretty-pink-delicate-fancy-flowery type thing. I also made Eliza slightly bolder in colour than the room as I wanted her to look like she didn't fit in and her environment of Victorian England was weak and pallid in comparison to her.
The sky during the dream sequence was meant to look a bit trippy and surreal and when the winged silhouette of Eliza starts to disintegrate into birds the sky is quite a violent red firey colour, almost as though her dreams of flying are burning up.

11 Second Club
The 11 Second Club is an online community for animators. Every month there is a new competition where an 11 second long audio clip is released. You then have a month to create an animation that fits the audio and you can use any media, but cannot tamper with the sound at all, except by adding a few silent seconds at the beginning or end.
I'm using December's clip which has no dialogue, just sound effects. Below is my animatic.
So basically a really annoying, hyper active little kid runs in and kicks down a tower made from wooden building blocks. He celebrates his mischievous success until he hears heavy footsteps..... and then gets his comeuppance when he is taken out by the much bigger bully type kid. I hoped that the viewer would make the link that the tower belonged to the bigger kid but I don't think it's clear enough.
I'm hoping to get a good performance out of this and really show the changing emotions of the annoying little kid. Oh and it is going to be set in a primary school classroom but I haven't shown the background in the animatic.

'A Dog's Life' Animatic
Hannah put together this animatic from Eline's storyboard. We all pitched in for the voice over, what joy...
